The Berkshire Concert Choir performs choral literature from all musical periods at the highest standard possible for audiences in our communities and provides the choir members with a rich musical and social experience. Membership is open to singers at all levels of experience and skill who are committed to hard work and the joy of singing.
Performances
The Berkshire Concert Choir prepares and presents two major concerts each season. In addition, the choir may be asked to participate in other community events, both on- and off-season. Concert dates, programs and rehearsal schedules will be announced at the beginning of each semester. Changes may be made by the Board when necessary.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:00 pm from September to June in the chorus room at Pittsfield High School, 300 East Street, Pittsfield. Rehearsals begin promptly. Regular attendance (including any sectional rehearsals) is essential to our ability to perform together. Members who anticipate missing three or more rehearsals must advise the Artistic Director of their situations. Members are asked to equip themselves with a black binder or folder, bring a pencil to each rehearsal and make only pencil markings on their music (no pens, ink, or highlighters). Music is collected after each concert for use in future concerts.
Performance Dress
Women: Long (ankle-length) black skirt or slacks; long-sleeved, black blouse/shirt; white pearl necklace. (Ankle-length black dress with long sleeves is also acceptable.)
Men: Tuxedo (preferred) or dark suit, white shirt, black bow tie, black socks and dress shoes.
Perfumes, colognes and after-shave lotions can adversely affect other singers. Please refrain from wearing these during rehearsals and performances.
Parking
For rehearsals, parking can be found on the west side of the Pittsfield High building; enter through the side door. Free parking will be available for the concert in the large public lot located directly across First Street from Zion Lutheran Church.
Our Support
As an IRS 501(c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization, dues and contributions are tax-deductible. The Choir is supported by membership dues, contributions, ticket sales and grants.
Individual membership dues are $40 per semester and are due at the first rehearsal. Checks should be made out to “Berkshire Concert Choir, Inc.”
